Production Scale

With a diameter of 40 meters, a depth of 22 meters, and a volume of 21,000 cubic meters, it is designed to produce up to one million post-smolt.

Environmental Impact

Neptun’s system not only ensures better fish health but also contributes to environmental sustainability by filtering and collecting a substantial portion of the sludge. This reduces waste and minimizes the environmental impact of fish farming, making the system eco-friendlier.

Fish health objectives

In addition to providing optimal growth conditions and enhancing fish welfare, Neptun facilitates the filtration and collection of a significant amount of sludge. Test results have shown strong growth and low mortality rates compared to conventional cages. Our technology effectively manages disease and lice issues, proving it to be a robust and reliable production method.

Technology used

Neptun 4 has been enhanced based on insights from the project Neptun 3 and is equipped with intake water filtration and UV treatment. Fish welfare and water quality have been central to the development of the closed farming system. The cage is constructed from fiberglass-reinforced plastic and is secured with double barriers at all openings to prevent fish escapes.

Neptun 4 combines advanced design and sustainable technology to revolutionize fish farming, ensuring optimal fish health, reduced environmental impact, and the ability to thrive in more exposed locations.

Impact on Operations

By integrating water treatment into the collar, production costs are reduced. The design focuses on cost-efficiency, standardization, and supplier collaboration, making the investment cost less than a fifth of what a similar land-based system would cost.
